ENTRANCE GATEWAY DESIGN FOR
VICTORIA PARK LUNAR NEW YEAR FAIR 2021

The concept design for the Entrance Gate Design is named as ‘Cohesion 凝喜’, aiming to gather people with sincerity and dedication to welcome Lunar New Year together.

 

The form of pitch roof is inspired by the Chinese character 人. By repeating and transforming the character 人, a roof for all citizens is created with layers of ribbons, symbolising the good will to gather people in the city.

 

Ribbon (made in silk cotton fabric) of gradient red colour is adopted to generate the layering and 3-dimension visual effect. Th silk cotton fabric provides a glossy surface with transparency for the stunning lighting effect, highlighting the joyful and energetic festive atmosphere.

 

Concerning sustainability, a modular system is introduced for the ribbon configuration to minimise the construction cost and fabrication time. And, the silk cotton fabric (count紗支：～40S) used for the ribbon modules is biodegradable, causing less harm to our planet.
